Remnants of Life
Juxtaposing raw materials from remains found around Gaza- pieces of fabric, wood and scraps of paper- Abdelnasser Amr creates a form that echoes the destruction of war. The words on these pieces of burnt paper- torn documents now devoid of context- are, like all conflict, illogical and incomprehensible amid the ashes that permeate their surface.
Abdelnasser Amr is a member of the Gaza Fine Art Association, Eltiqa Contemporary Art Collective (Gaza) and the Association for Plastic Art (A.I.A.P.). He is one of the founders of the art program within the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Gaza and was coordinator of the same program between 1996 and 2011. He has participated in group and solo exhibitions in France, Switzerland, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt and the USA.
